Carol Farrow

These 'Paperworks' are formed from cotton fibres (linters). The fibres are beaten in water (fibrilated) and then formed into sheets. They are then pressed, dried, painted and often impregnated with wax.

The 'cast' pieces are made from pressing the freshly formed damp paper directly onto the surface to be cast. When the paper is dry it is removed, painted and waxed.

Influences stem mostly from architectural surfaces and forms, implements and objects bearing the marks of use - implying the passage of time and change.
