Jean Lowe

Living on the edge of the Medway estuary, Jean Lowe makes handcoiled ceramic "pebbles", "rock pools" and "creamed oyster shells" which challenge the scale of nature.

Strong tides on the river shape and alter the forms of the stones and pebbles which are revealed at low water; some are smooth and tctile, others are distorted with adhesions and blow holes: These are some of the objects that influence Jean's work.

All work is fired to Stoneware temperatures and is frost resistant.
